Good morning all,

I am trying to install my new InfoCaster player, but I can't go beyond the point where it asks the username and password for the manager server. As soon as I press 'Next' an error message comes up telling me that either the username, password or domain is invalid. The weird thing is that it comes up instantly, it doesn't even take a second to try to connect to the manager.
On the first screen I have entered the server name as 'http://server_url', tried both with and without the http part, and tried the direct IP address. I don't think it's a DHCP server problem as the computer can access the net.

The server is remote, not on the LAN, but I have entered the right name for it. As a matter of fact I have another player working fine in my office connecting to the same manager, although this one had InfoCaster installed before I set it up here.

I have of course checked all the preliminaries like disabling windows simple file sharing, I have even disabled the firewall (both on th server and on the player machine). My internet connection goes through an http proxy but there is nothing I can do about that.

For the rest of my config, even though I don't think it should play any part in this, the computer is a dual P4 3GHz machine running windows XP.

I hope someone has some insight!
Thanks,

Nicolas

The user name and password it’s looking for is an account LOCAL to the Player machine. Because it is looking for a local account, it doesn’t take any time for it to check. It needs an administrative account for the Player in order for InfoCaster to work with background services regardless of who is logged in. This same user name and password should also exist on the Network Manager machine. Note that the user name must have an actual password; you cannot leave the password blank.

This is the most assistance I can give you in the forums. If you need further setup help you will have to contact our team directly (either phone or email) and be sure to include your InfoCaster serial number(s) and/or Service Contract number. Let us know if we can help further.

Regards,

Thank you Gina,

I was thrown off by the term Infocaster player server.
It's working fine now!

though it might be wise to create an account on the server machine with administrator-rights and create an account on the player with the same name, password and rights...

at first i had different accounts, and had trouble with sending over ODBC-databases...
